Tixel is a novel non-ablative fractional skin rejuvenation system powered by Novoxel’s patented titanium tip technology.
Tixel treats delicate facial skin, including periorbital, eyelids, the neck and décolleté safely and quickly with low pain and 0-2 days downtime.
Tixel employs direct heat and is radiation-free.
How does tixel do for skin rejuvenation?
The heated pyramid-shaped spikes on the tip creates micro-channels or craters in the skin through evaporation of skin. This induces new collagen formation or neo-collagenesis by stimulating the skin’s natural healing process.
The treatment is fractional, that is, heat is applied in specific, targeted areas with healthy untreated skin in between. This helps reduce healing times and complications in comparison to treating all the skin at once.
This process helps to improve general skin quality, wrinkles, skin texture, and can also improve acne scarring.
The Tixel can also be used to infuse skin care products into the skin because of the matrix of micro channels that it creates. Products such as growth factors, vitamin A or skin lightening agents can be infused into the skin after Tixel treatment to help induce further changes in the skin. The Tixel treatment allows for the enhanced absorption of these products.
What does tixel treat?
Tixel can be used to treat a number of skin concerns, including:
Acne scars
Lines and wrinkles
Stretch marks
Sagging skin (including eyebags or sagging eyelids)
Uneven pigmentation, skin discolouration or melasma
Rosacea
Age spots
Tixel can also be used to generally tighten and rejuvenate the skin.
As Tixel produces microscopic channels in the skin for up to 6 hours after treatment it is great for the delivery of anti-aging products, lightening and brightening agents, peptides and growth factors, wound healing enzymes and others.
How should I prepare for tixel treatment?
Sun avoidance for one to two weeks prior to your treatment is suggested. Avoid irritating skin care products in the days leading up to your laser. If you are prone to cold sores you should discuss this with your treating doctor and nurses.
On the day of treatment we recommend you come in with a clean face free from sunscreen and make-up.
What should I expect on the day of your treatment?
Firstly, HCDL nursing staff will undertake your pre-treatment assessment and provide you with all the information and after care resources. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the procedure or recovery period.
After the treatment is completed LED light therapy is administered for around 15 minutes which is totally painless. This is performed to enhance healing and improve outcomes. You are able to drive yourself home after the treatment.
Is the treatment painful and what is the expected recovery?
There may be a feeling of heat, similar to sunburn, during the treatment. Most patients find it mildly uncomfortable but tolerable.
The downtime following the procedure is usually a 1-3 days depending upon your skin type.
Your skin may feel sensitive and warm for a few days after treatment as if you’ve been in the sun. Mild swelling and redness are common for 2-3 days after treatment.
After this, your skin may begin to experience a mild peel.
