Skincare Advice
It is important that skin care is individualised to each person. Many factors needs to be taken into consideration; your age, occupation, sun damage, underlying dermatological condition and history of previous contact dermatitis. At HCDL, our team takes skin care seriously and is able to advise you on this.
Our recommendation is that our patients use UVA and UVB 50+ sunscreen on the face and other sun exposed sites everyday.
At HCDL, we offer skincare packages catering to specific conditions. These are tried and tested products recommended by our Dermatologists & Registered Nurses & Dermal Therapists.
These packages can be purchased directly from our clinic.
Our other basic skin care advice
Keep showers short. Long showers will cause increased dryness of the skin
Wash the face and body with a soap free wash once or twice daily.
Aim to moisturise the face and body twice daily.
Manage any underlying skin problems with treatment initiated by your Dermatologist
Invest in active ingredients that will enhance collagen and elastin production; namely retinoids or Vitamin A. Concentrations of Vitamin A that have an impact on your skin are generally prescribed by your Doctor.
Other important ingredients include:
Antioxidants; such as Nicotinamide or Vitamin B3, Vitamin C, alpha tocopherol or Vitamin E, N-acetyl glucosamine and Ubiquinone. These products reduce inflammation that is caused by day-to-day life and sun exposure. They also stimulate collagen repair.
Hydroxyacids; such as alpha or beta hydroxyacids. These encourage dead skin to be shed and subsequently improve the hydration of the skin and fine lines.
Skin lightening agents that even skin tone such as Vitamin C, azelaic acid, kojic acid, hydroquinone and liquorice extract.
