Laser Genesis & LED Light Acne Package

Treatment with laser and light sources can help improve inflammatory acne, redness, pigmentation and acne scarring. When performed by trained professionals these treatments are safe, effective, and associated with no or minimal downtime. When used in conjunction with prescription medications they can optimize acne outcomes.

How does Laser Genesis work for acne?

Laser Genesis uses micro pulse laser energy which delivers pulses of energy which gently heat the deeper layer of skin (dermis). With a course of treatment this targeted heating of the dermis results in:

  • Reduction in the burden of inflammatory lesions, comedones (blackheads) and pustules

  • Improvement of uneven skin tone, texture and pore size

  • Safely and gently treats general redness

  • Can help fade acne and other scarring

  • Stimulates new collagen production to promote vibrant & healthy looking skin

  • Reduces the appearance of fine lines

Hunter Coast Dermatology and Laser offer low downtime laser to our clients, and priority access for acne and acne scarring.

How does LED work for acne?

There are multiple studies supporting the effective use of blue and red light in the treatment of acne and acne-like disorder. Both red and blue light have excellent anti-inflammatory actions in the skin and reduce oil gland size and function. Blue light also decreases and destroys P. acnes bacteria, and red light penetrates deeper to promote circulation and skin recovery.

At HCDL we will combine Laser Genesis with either red or blue light depending on your individual needs and progress over time.

Results After Laser Genesis & Medical Management

Laser Genesis is a micro pulse laser treatment for acne, rosacea, pigmentation and scar management. Over the course of 3 or more treatments we see a significant reduction in redness, pigmentation and find a more even skin tone. A wonderful aspect of this laser treatment is no pain and minimal downtime.

When is the best time to have Laser Genesis & LED therapy?

At Hunter Coast Dermatology we believe that acne treatment needs to be individualised and multi-faceted to achieve the best outcome. Your dermatologist will discuss an acne plan that is tailored to your needs. This will often be a combination of prescription medications, appropriate skin care and laser/light based treatments.

What does the procedure feel like and how long does it take?

You will experience a gentle warming of your skin during the procedure, it is not uncomfortable and the procedure does not break the skin surface. It usually takes approximately 45 minutes.

When can I return to normal activities and wear sunscreen or makeup?

You can immediately return to normal activities and a gentle skincare routine.

How many treatments will I need?

On average 4-6 treatment sessions are recommended to achieve optimal results. Improvements are gradual and will be more noticeable after subsequent treatments. Results will continue to improve for months after the last treatment. We recommend treatment at 4-6 weekly intervals.

What are the possible side effects?

Most patients report few if any side effects. The most common is slight redness or swelling that disappears within a few hours of treatment.

How do I arrange a treatment and what are the costs?

This treatment can be performed by one of our experienced Registered Nurses and can be booked with them. Alternatively for additional medical management of your acne book in for a consultation with one of our dermatologists. Your dermatologist will discuss your treatment goals with you during your consult. The results will vary depending on your age, degree of sun damage and skin type, as well as what parameters your doctor or nurse uses.
