Facial Redness, Broken Capillaries & Venous Lakes

Redness and small visible blood vessels on the face are common as we get older. It is most often caused by sun damage, rosacea or a combination of both, which results in the small blood vessels of the skin becoming dilated and visible.

Venous lakes are another common vascular problem in middle to older age. These are dark blue or purple lumps which can occur anywhere on the body, but most often seen on the lower lips. They are benign (non-cancerous) swellings of blood vessels in the lip. They can be confused with a melanoma so having an expert opinion is essential.

There are no tablets or creams that can help with these common vascular concerns. Successful treatment requires laser-based therapy, which shrinks the blood vessels of concern.
