Laser Genesis for Acne & Acne Scarring

What is Laser Genesis?

The Laser Genesis procedure utilises laser light technology to safely and effectively treat fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture. It also helps to reduce pore size, diffuse redness & scars. The procedure does not break the skin surface, meaning there is no downtime and you can return to work or other activities the same day.

How does Laser Genesis work?

Laser Genesis uses a laser of 532nm (green light) or 1064nm (infrared) wavelength to deliver thousands of micro pulses of energy which gently heat the deeper layer of skin (dermis). Targeted heating of the dermis stimulates collagen production and remodelling which improves the appearance of fine lines and other skin concerns. Additional heat is generated in surface blood vessels (capillaries) to reduce redness.

A wonderful aspect of this laser treatment is no pain and minimal downtime.

When is the best time to have Laser Genesis?

You should avoid significant sun exposure before and after the treatment. Apply a 50+ sunblock daily for 2 weeks after treatment.

What areas can be treated?

Laser Genesis is an ideal treatment for the face, neck and chest. Other areas of the body with signs of aging or scars can also be treated.

What is diffuse redness?

Diffuse redness is a general appearance of facial redness that most commonly affects the nose, cheeks and forehead. This condition is caused by dilated capillaries, resulting in an appearance of general redness, as distinct from discrete, well-defined blood vessels. Diffuse redness is often associated with a condition called rosacea and can be hereditary. Laser Genesis will help improve your appearance by gently treating and reducing this condition.

What does the procedure feel like?

You will experience a gentle warming of your skin’s surface during the procedure. It is not uncomfortable.

How long does the procedure take?

It usually takes between 10 and 30 minutes and varies with the size of the treatment area.

When can I return to normal activities and wear sunscreen or makeup?

You can immediately return to normal activities and a gentle skincare routine.

You will not need gel, anaesthetic cream or ice prior to treatment. We ask that you don’t wear makeup or sunscreen to your procedure.

How many treatments will I need?

Every patient’s condition and needs vary. On average 4-6 treatment sessions are recommended to achieve optimal results. Improvements are gradual and will be more noticeable after subsequent treatments. Results will continue to improve for months after the last treatment. To sustain results, some patients opt to have maintenance treatment performed 6-12 monthly, but this is not essential.

What are the possible side effects?

Most patients report few if any side effects. The most common is slight redness or swelling that disappears within a few hours of treatment. Before treatment your doctor will ask a series of screening questions and will discuss potential risks related to any existing medical conditions.
