About the HCDL Practice
Hunter Coast Dermatology & Laser (HCDL) was founded by Dr Jessica Bale and Dr Rashi Malesu in 2021. The practice was established from a shared desire to service the dermatology needs of the Newcastle and Hunter Region and beyond.
HCDL offers the most advanced range of medical, surgical and laser dermatology in Newcastle and the Hunter Region.
The Dermatologists at HCDL are all Fellows of The Australasian College of Dermatology. This means that in addition to 5 or 6 years of University medical education, and several years as hospital doctors, they undergo 4 additional years of rigorous training in specialist medical and surgical dermatology.
Dermatologists must sit comprehensive exams at the end of their specialty training to be awarded this qualification. Dr’s Bale and Dr Malesu each have specialty interests within dermatology.
They specialise in acne & acne scarring, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, sun damage and skin cancer management, underarm sweating (axillary hyperhidrosis), laser dermatology, surgical dermatology and cosmetic dermatology.

Our Dermatologists have subspecialty training and interests in acne, rosacea, pigmentation, sun damage, skin cancer management and hyperhidrosis of the underarms.
We offer a comprehensive range of laser and light based treatments to manage both medical conditions and cosmetic concerns.
We treat all skin cancers and removal of skin lesions. Our practice is purpose built for surgical treatments to be performed within our treatment rooms.
We offer consultations with our Dermatologists & registered Nurses to discuss cosmetic services including Botulinum toxin, biostimulators, lasers and skin care.
